Newest Virgin River Update Has Fans So Ready to Drop the Show
Not exactly the Christmas present we were hoping for.
Virgin River season 5 premiered on Netflix this September. However, it was only the first dump of episodes, since two special ones are still waiting to be released on the platform on November 30.
The creator of the show, Patrick Sean Smith, wanted to present these two episodes as a Christmas gift for the hardcore fans. In the interview with Glamour, he mentioned that this addition to season 5 would be like a light breeze compared to the first ten episodes and bring joy to both characters and fans.
However, this may not have been exactly what the fans wanted. The first installment of season 5 left the story with so many cliffhangers, so hopes were high that these two new episodes would tie them all up.
In the recent interview, however, the showrunner hinted that season 5 ending will be more of a hint on what will happen next and the real deal is only about to happen in season 6. But that’s not the only thing that annoyed the Virgin River fans.
The most dedicated fans had a feeling that Smith sort of forgot who his main characters were. In the interview, he spent so much time talking about Charmaine and her story (the baby daddy reveal and the twins twist) that fans got angry. No need to remind you that Charmaine is probably the most hated character of the show, so the reaction is understandable.
The fans are also worried that the real main characters are not going to have enough screen time in the upcoming episodes.
“Fandom won't accept it so maybe it's best S6 is the last season cause ain't no way in hell I'm watching Virgin River without Jack and Mel as leads. They are Virgin River in my opinion and I have no interest in anyone else at the show's helm,” Redditor Complete-Road-3229 said.
To calm the nerves of worried fans, we should mention that something interesting will happen to them in the Christmas episodes. It seems that they will go on some kind of scavenger hunt, going from clue to clue to find out who Mel's real father is.
So no matter how angry the fans are now, with some of them readying to drop the show altogether, it seems that the series is still worth watching, at least for the sake of the holiday atmosphere.
