Even in 2023, when the vast majority of networks and streamers were challenged by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, some of the franchises only continued to grow. NCIS: Sydney, released this past November, was proof that one of CBS' biggest hits is still going strong and not planning on going anywhere, only expanding its influence.
Although the first season, like many other premieres of 2023 and the upcoming 2024 midseason, is short on episodes, it still has a lot to offer. Viewers have already fallen in love with Michelle Mackey, NCIS Special Agent in Charge, and the team under her control.
The only question now is whether the show will live up to expectations and continue for another season.
NCIS: Sydney Season 1 Finale News
In an interview with TV Insider, Olivia Swann shared what fans should expect from the first season finale of NCIS: Sydney. Unfortunately for fans, it won't be an instant happy ending:
“There are a couple of twists and turns and reveals and all fun things like that, but it does all get kind of sewn together, and by the end of the season, we start getting a really big scope of what actually has been going on throughout the whole season. It accumulates in a very intense, very explosive, very heartbreaking way,” the actress said.
The only good thing about such a promise is that it definitely leaves the door open for future possibilities in season 2. Whether it will happen or not is still up in the air, but judging by the show's reception, the first international expansion of the NCIS franchise has every chance of returning to our screens.
With a standard happy ending, it wouldn't be as interesting to see what the showrunners come up with. The more emotional viewers are left after the finale, the more chances there are for season 2 to start on a high note.
