New Young Sheldon Season 6 Image Makes It Obvious Why the End is Near
Young Sheldon is already at season 6, with only season 7 confirmed. Is that going to be it for the show?
It is not unlikely. The writers have been slow-pacing the show for over six years now, trying to delay George's imminent death and Sheldon's move to Pasadena, but The Big Bang Theory canon is impossible to escape forever.
However, Young Sheldon may end after season 7 for other reasons as well, and new behind-the-scenes footage reveals one of them. On his Instagram account, Iain Armitage has shared a picture that showcases one of the cast's traditions.
Apparently, the youngest members measure their height at the beginning and end of each season to keep track of how much they have grown.
While this is a cute tradition that makes us go, "Time flies!" every time we see an image like that, it is also alarming evidence that the actors are growing out of their roles age-wise.
Iain Armitage is 14 while playing 13-year-old Sheldon. It is still believable now, but if he has a growth spurt anytime soon, later seasons might look like another rendition of 30-year-old teenagers.
The Vampire Diaries, we are looking at you!
Montana Jordan is already 20 (and it shows!), but our fave Georgie is only 17 in season 6. Raegan Revord is in her teens – she is 15 while playing Sheldon's 13-year-old twin Missy. Feeling old yet?
Sure, Montana, Raegan, and Iain are all up for reprising their respective roles for more seasons, but the fact that the child actors are no longer children may make the writers wrap up Young Sheldon sooner than anyone (especially, the fans!) would like.
We are not saying that the show is doomed after season 7. There are several creative ways CBS could renew the series for seasons 8, 9, or 10.
For instance, they could choose to focus on the Coopers who are still in Medford, Texas. After all, we love them just as much after six seasons.
Sorry, not sorry, Sheldon.
Whatever the future holds for Young Sheldon, we trust the creators to make the right call. Don't cry your eyes out just yet, we have at least one more season to go!
