Did we ask for season 2 at all? That's another question...

Whether you like it or not, The Rings of Power season 2 is happening — and new details are already hinting at some unexpected twists in the upcoming chapter of Amazon's Tolkien-inspired endeavour.

It looks like the second season will have two unlikely characters siding with each other for battle.

According to fansite Fellowship of Fans, "Arondir will be present at the 2 episode battle in The Rings of Power Season 2 alongside Elrond whilst fighting Adar's Army."

Moreover, a newly-introduced series regular, Nia Towle (who portrays a human named Estrid), will be "in the same plot line" and will share some scenes with Arondir and Isildur.

Everything is just fine before you start remembering just where the first season left all these characters.

Arondir is headed to the southern Human port of Pelargir, joined by the Southlands' survivors. Isildur is lost in what is now Mordor, right where Adar is establishing his power over the orcs.

Elrond is dozens of miles away, in the elven kingdom, witnessing the forging of The Rings of Power. And Estrid, whoever she is, is full of mystery: she might as well appear anywhere the writers' creativity takes here.

But how on Middle-earth will Arondir and Elrond join forces against Adar while they're so far away from each other? Unless The Rings of Power suddenly introduces Harry Potter-esque portkeys, the characters have to quickly head to their meeting point right now, without caring about their own quests, if they want to make it to the said huge battle.

Unless the scoop happens to be false, we're in for some truly fast-paced travel... or a bunch of huge plot holes. But it's not like we're strangers to those, right?
