New Rings of Power Rumor Teases Two Saurons in Season 2
As if one Sauron wasn't enough.
Looks like The Rings of Power is about to reintroduce its season 1 "Who is Sauron?" mystery — at least if we believe the latest season 2 rumors.
Everything we know about The Lord of the Rings prequel series' season 2 points to a battle-packed return of Amazon's grand fantasy that will cast villain Sauron in a new light.
Or into two new lights. Because apparently, we will get to see Sauron in season 2 in two very different versions.
Long enigmatic about the identity of the great Middle-earth villain, season 1 of Amazon's Lord of the Rings prequel series finally revealed Halbrand as Sauron in episode 8.
So, in season 2, we'll see his many-faced character in a new way. Or with two different character forms, as the Fellowship of Fans account, known for its leaks and exclusive insider insights, reported.
Literary Tolkien fans know the mighty Sauron not only as walking armor or as an eye (as later seen in Frodo's time), but also as shapeshifter Annatar, who could change his appearance before the fall of Númenor.
Now that Galadriel knows Halbrand's face, he will need to use new disguises in season 2 to continue his reign of terror over Middle-earth.
The fact that shapeshifters also exist in Amazon's fantasy series has been already proven in the season 1 finale by the three mystics who appeared to the stranger as Nori.
Now, in season 2 of the Rings of Power, Halbrand is also likely to show off his full power (including transformations). In one form he could go to the dwarves, in another forge the human rings of power.
It is not yet known whether Halbrand actor Charlie Vickers will be put in a mask of sorts for this or whether another actor will embody Sauron with a new face.
What is certain, according to Fellowship of Fans, is that we will see two very different versions of Sauron in the future. Will one of them live out its actually much more brutal side?
Or does the second Sauron present himself as a misunderstood Middle-earth villain?
The second season of The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime will probably reveal this in 2024.
