If you are a writer, Morris has a job for you.

Summary:

  • New Girl was the Fox sitcom following the lives of three men and their new roommate, Jess.
  • The show was a huge success and lasted for 7 seasons from 2011 to 2017.
  • Lamorne Morris, who portrayed Winston on the show, confirms the talks of reboot, unsure of how serious they are.

In times of doubt and struggle to find something new to watch, many people prefer the shows they already know and love to the ones they haven't checked out yet. New Girl, which premiered in 2011 and captured the hearts of many viewers almost immediately after, remains one of those shows that is constantly on repeat in many households.

Accompanied by Jess, Nick, Winston, and Schmidt, as well as their recurring friends Coach and Cece, viewers are quickly drawn into the everyday struggles of any young adult trying to make it in the big city.

Great acting, brilliant writing, and hilarious jokes all played a part in New Girl's success, and in one way or another, remain the main reasons for the high demand for its reboot. Fortunately, some of the cast are already ready to put on their New Girl shoes and get back into their characters.

Lamorne Morris, for example, who played Winston on the show and now stars in FX's hit Fargo, would never trade the ease of filming New Girl for anything else.

Speaking to Variety, Morris mentioned how he still cherishes the memories of working on the New Girl set and how much freedom he has as an actor and comedian to grow into his character and improvise pretty much every scene. Though those days may be long gone, it's never too late to bring them back.

The demand from fans and the eagerness of the cast to return to their roles, however, isn't nearly enough to make a reboot work, the actor believes. The most important processes, as always, take place behind the camera. So only the people in charge of them could make New Girl as great as it was before.

“There have been talks about it. I’m not sure how serious those talks were. It is such a fun thing to do for us as performers, but the writing was so great, I’m not sure how easy it was for Liz Meriwether and her squad to create it. I feel they had fun in the writers’ room, but I’m assuming it was also a tough job because I feel like every episode was on point,” Morris said.

But that doesn't mean a definite "no"! As the actor added in the same interview, he's open to returning any day for a Winston-centric spinoff. So if you feel the creative urge to make this happen, get in touch with Lamorne Morris right away and make our collective New Girl reboot dreams come true.

Until then, you can binge-watch seasons 1-7 of Fox's New Girl on Hulu.
