New Gen V Clip Finally Makes The Spinoff Feel Like The Boys
Fans were starting to think that the beloved universe is losing its grip.
If you're among the people who watched the first trailer for Gen V and felt that the vibe was off — we get it. The trailer did in fact look like a mix of everything, but the actual essence of The Boys was almost nowhere to be seen.
However, things are definitely looking up for the spinoff, as the new promotional materials continue to arrive, and they prove that Gen V is going to be just as irreverent and satirical as the parent show.
The new clip, which is an "orientation video" for Gen V's Godolkin University, has it all: from humor that knows no borders to hidden irony that we all love.
Particularly, when a disabled supe student appears in the video only to say that he is "super able," The Boys fans lost it.
"As a disabled person, I actually laughed when they showed the disabled kid. The way that they poke fun at tropes that most people wont even touch on or acknowledge is so [refreshing]," Redditor skuridat noted.
The way that Gen V has turned its promotional campaign into a lore-building introduction of Godolkin University is a nice addition to the already blossoming The Boys live-action universe.
The fandom is famous for taking to the show's social media (which is being managed as if The Seven and Vought were real) and take things ironically seriously, turning the entire discourse around the show into some sort of role play.
Looks like Godolkin University is on its way to join The Boys' own little metaverse. Now, Gen V oozes just the vibe to try and become what House of the Dragon was to Game of Thrones — a spinoff that might as well rival the original show when it comes to quality.
Gen V hits Prime Video on September 29, and as the Godolkin Universiry students say, they are "super" excited to meet you.
