Niel Gaiman will go beyond the source material

David Tennant fans are in luck this year.

Between returning to one of his most iconic roles as the Doctor in three special episodes this November and booking the role of Macbeth as part of the 30th-anniversary celebrations of London's Donmar Warehouse theater, he's been busy with another project.

Good Omens, a light-hearted and witty TV show based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's 1990 novel of the same name, was a huge hit when it was released in 2019.

This was due to both the amazing writing and the amazing acting of the two leads, David Tennant himself and his co-star Michael Sheen in their respective roles of Crowley and Aziraphale.

Naturally, fans were ecstatic to learn that their favorite show would be returning for a six-episode second season.

What's even more exciting is that Neil Gaiman went out of his way to make the release of the official date memorable, working with The Hillywood Show to create a fan-funded parody.

The second season of Good Omens will be released on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, July 28.

According to the description, the second season will explore storylines that go beyond the original source material, while still focusing on the uncanny friendship between the two main characters.

But there will also be some additions to the cast as the series progresses.

Season two will see the return of Liz Carr as Saraqael, Quelin Sepulveda as Muriel, and Shelley Conn as Beelzebub. It looks like neither Crowley nor Aziraphale will be left alone.

If you want to join the party, there is still plenty of time to refresh your memory and rewatch Good Omens Season 1 before jumping into Season 2.

You can watch the show on Amazon Prime Video.
