NCIS Season 21 Cliffhanger Still Leaves a Chance for Jessica Knight’s Personal Happy Ending
Apart from her career boost, she deserves a better perspective in personal life too.
NCIS season 21 is officially over, leaving its viewers on the hook for bigger things to come next season, and so far Jessica Knight’s storyline is what’s getting all the attention. One of the most beloved characters was dropped on a crossroad by the season 21 finale, though it was pretty clear that she was down for all the changes her career was about to go through.
Aside from the mystery of Knight’s possible departure from the entire show due to her big promotion, Jessica’s personal life is also at stake here, but the season 20 ending might give some hope for a better turn of events in the next installment.
Throughout its latest seasons, NCIS has been pretty clear that the relationship between Jessica and her colleague, Chief Medical Examiner James “Jimmy” Palmer, tend to be more serious than they both imagined first.
Though initially they both saw it as a light romance that nobody in the MCRT was aware of, Jessica and Jimmy still developed much stronger feelings for each other over time — to the point where the latter made it all official for their colleagues by dropping a simple phrase “Love you, Jess.” He then tried to justify himself by claiming that he had the same feelings for all of his co-workers, yet still nobody believed him.
As many fans expected, Jessica didn’t stay aside in here either and, though she always seemed to be more into her successful career rather than her personal happiness, she reacted to Palmer’s confession in almost the same way saying she loved him too in front of everyone in the squad room.
Such an undisguised reciprocation proved that Knight and Palmer’s relationship had much more chances for big developments than they seemed to at first.
So far there’s nothing to say how Jessica Knight’s story will unfold in the upcoming season 22 and whether she will indeed leave the show for good, but what’s clear is that she will be sent away to the other side of the country and away from Palmer, which will put their blooming romance in real jeopardy.
Their declaration of feelings for each other in the season 20 finale might be a little spoiler for their storyline’s future proving that their relationship will overcome all the upcoming difficulties, yet at the same time it can come as another heartbreaking plot twist that will ruin everything, no matter how strong their feelings for each other are.
