CBS’ military police procedural show NCIS has been having its fans on the edge of their seats while hinting at something big coming for Jessica Knight in season 21 finale. Some viral theories have been indeed confirmed by following episodes proving that the character gets a tempting offer from Director Vance to become the REACT team’s chief training officer which Knight accepts with an enthusiastic “Hell yeah”.
Though some may have rejoiced seeing the beloved character getting a big promotion, others were left with a concern whether all this means the end of a big era in the show.
While talking about her character’s fate in NCIS’ future with TVLine, Jessica Knight’s actress Katrina Low reflected on Jessica’s decision in the finale and the ways that it can completely change her life. Low admitted that the offer eventually had gotten the character and her love interest Jimmy “into a bit of a whirlwind”, especially after Jessica’s dad suddenly showed up.
The actress then clarified that, despite all the trouble that Jessica got because of her career upgrade, she still has to take the job as “she knows deep down this is what she wants”. Being a very ambitious character with certain professional goals, Jessica eventually wouldn’t succumb to something that she wasn’t sure would last, like her long-distance relationship with Jimmy.
At the same time, she still has no idea about how her relationships with Jimmy would develop or rather be crushed while Jessica set some certain priorities. According to Low, her character is kind of in the same position as Jimmy where they both need to see where it all will eventually go.
When asked about whether she’ll be back for season 22 or her character’s new job will take her far away from the main storyline, Low gave nothing but a little advice to “better tune in for that season opener”.
Given that the show has been renewed for yet another season only back in April this year, it will take quite some time to finally find out where Jessica Knight will stand (or not) after her pivotal decision.
