There’s no way the fans would have left satisfied.

When a show gets too popular, it's no wonder spin-offs start popping up. And sometimes, they not only focus on specific characters and their own universes, but expand to become a whole new show set in another state, country, or even continent.

The perfect example to support this argument is, of course, NCIS. The series premiered in 2003 and has since become a major franchise that revolves around many different teams based in different locations.

The original series tells the story of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service's Major Case Response Team as they get to the bottom of criminal cases involving Navy and Marine Corps personnel. Since its premiere, the show became a hit, turning many viewers into obsessed fans, who later also became the spinoff’s audience.

One of the recently created shows among the NCIS universe is the Hawaiian version of the series, and we must say this one got all the love from fans. But unfortunately for many of them, the show was canceled after season 3.

However, the announcement was made before the season’s final episode aired, and after it was released people were in shock, since the episode was nothing like a finale. With a lot of cliffhangers and stories left unexplained.

So while fans of the show are disappointed in CBS's decision not to renew it, they have nevertheless decided that it's an okay choice and that by creating another season, the show wouldn't have accomplished anything.

Fans say that in order to give them a satisfying story, the show would have had to make so many of them that it just seems impossible.

The writers have introduced the audience to so many twisted storylines that need deep explanation that there is no way they could have come up with a decent ending for all of them. So not having any conclusion is better.

“To be honest, most tv shows don't get proper finales. In the case of NCIS Hawaii there were so many stories to tell. Examples are Lucy's family, Jesse's past and especially Maggie's status. That's not going to be solved ever considering they haven't fixed several pending plots on NCIS LA,” Redditor ed8907 said.

NCIS: Hawai'i is currently streaming on Prime Video.
