'Multiverse of Madness' Writer Michael Waldron Explains Clea Post-Credits Scene
The latest Marvel movie has just been released, but fans are already desperate to learn all they can about the MCU's exciting new addition, Charlize Theron's Clea.
Clea appeared in the original Marvel comics over 50 years ago, and her incredible origin story (niece of Dormammu and heir to the Dark Dimension) has fans eagerly awaiting her live-action debut in the MCU. According to Marvel comics canon, Clea is the rightful holder of the title of Sorcerer Supreme, given that her husband Doctor Strange has passed away in the recent past. Therefore, Feige's decision to introduce her through a post-credit scene to a wider audience of moviegoers seems more relevant than ever.
'WandaVision' and 'Doctor Strange 2' head writer Michael Waldron addressed Clea's future position in the MCU, finally revealing her as Strange's love interest.
"We knew that we wanted to introduce Clea. She's Strange's great love in the comics and it was felt to me like Strange wasn't at the point at the start of our movie where he was ready to meet the love of his life. It felt like we had to close the loop with he and Christine Palmer. And so after she gives him her wisdom to not be afraid of loving someone, then it felt like we were right to tease what could be eventually with he and Clea," Waldron told Gizmodo.
Fans can't wait to see what's next for the duo of characters, given their impending wedding in the Dark Dimension, which has long been covered in the original comics.
