Even vampires had to endure freezing and bruising.

The premiere of Twilight took place in 2008, and then no one could even imagine how popular it would become in the future.

One of the most famous and recognizable scenes is still the baseball game, but few people know that it was the most difficult for the actors.

Although the scene was only about two minutes long, the actors had worked hard for a long time to film it. The cast worked with a baseball consultant, which brought them a lot closer together.

The actors all had different levels of familiarity with baseball, but in the end they had to move so confidently that their movements were similar to those of a cat.

The weather didn't help either. The scene was filmed while it was cold and damp. Director Catherine Hardwicke said:

“We were filming in the winter because that's when you have the most overcast. We couldn't have bright sun because then the vampires would have to sparkle. We didn't want them to be sparkling all the time, we couldn't afford that.”

The camera was filming a huge area in 360, and there were not supposed to be any additional buildings on the set. Therefore, the actors had no other option than to freeze.

In order to go to the toilet or to have a cup of tea, they had to walk quite a distance. In addition, the shoot, which was supposed to last four days, ended up taking a week and a half.

Filming the scene was physically demanding, according to the cast, and actress Nikki Reed, who played Rosalie, admitted that she suffered a lot of bruising:

“We had to strap pads to all of our butts and shins and everything. But I really commit to stuff like that. I've never been afraid of getting really physical and so I think I just did some really gnarly dives.”

When Twilight premiered, there was no certainty that the young adult novel could be brought to life on the big screen and become popular.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were virtually unknown, and director Catherine Hardwicke had little time to shoot the movie and a budget of $37 million, relatively small for the genre.

But against all odds, Twilight has achieved unprecedented popularity and is forever ingrained in popular culture, thanks in part to such iconic scenes as the baseball game.
