Finally, some good old gritty action!

We’re already half through the year, and if you’re a big fan of watching movies depicting spectacular battles and struggles of a soldier, you may be quite disappointed.

Of course, we’ve seen Guy Ritchie ’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and Alex Garland ’s Civil War, but there is still a desire to watch something more brutal and even dirtier. Luckily, a must-see war film that is now coming to Netflix can fully satisfy it.

It starts by showing that a secret Special Forces operation is being held in the Philippines to rescue a CIA spy, and it gradually transforms into a bloody battle for survival.

When an elite extraction team is ambushed deep in the enemy territory, only rookie officer Kinney is left alive. His only hope for salvation is Reaper, an experienced drone pilot who navigates him through the dangerous jungle.

This premise seems to be quite typical of action flicks: a very important mission goes wrong, there is a soldier stuck in a hostile land, seeking for remote help from another guy. Yes, it’s true, but this formula is elevated to a completely different level here.

The movie offers you an outstanding level of suspense, as you never know whether Kinney and Reaper will make it or not until the very end. Be sure you’ll be chewing your fingernails during the extremely tense finale that makes it 100% worth-watching.

However, the best part of the film is its action sequences. They’re made so artfully and epically that you will enjoy its explosions and combats even if you’re not into actions.

Titled Land of Bad, this war movie stars Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games ) as Kinney and Russell Crowe (Gladiator ) as Reaper, and their duo is surprisingly perfect.

“What I got was some brutal, gritty, edge of the seat suspense without the complete ‘over the top’ action sequences and fight scenes that seem to push the suspended disbelief beyond anything conceivable,” concludes Redditor Flashba99 about it.

Luckily, this roller coaster of a movie is just around the corner to arrive on Netflix, so don’t miss a chance to be blown away by its greatness.

Land of Bad will become available on Netflix on July 18.
