Season 5 will be the last of the series, and fans are eager to see how it all ends.

However, viewers are very concerned the Duffer Brothers will go down a slippery slope and build up an unbelievable amount of fan service ruining the beloved franchise.

There's no denying Stranger Things has a lot of references to Stephen King 's cult classic It. Both the atmosphere and the characters are very reminiscent of the American author's novel. And do not forget that the Duffer Brothers first wanted to make a movie out of this book and then turned it into an original series.

And one of the main clichés that fans do not want to see under any circumstances is a time jump, where viewers will see grown-up characters.

It's not really clear whether the audience is upset by the fact that there might be a reference to It at the end of the series, or by the fact that the plot will be developed on two parallel timelines.

Many fans even joke that the show's most boring and unassuming character, Ted Wheeler, will wake up in the shower at the end of the show and realize that it was all his fantasy. Then the camera will pull away and viewers will see Hawkins in a snow globe with 011's mother staring at it.

Some are suggesting the show should end with the class of '89. Redditor itsfrenzy9 hopes the viewers will see the beloved characters after graduation as they all get together and celebrate the New Year, and then the '80s era will be replaced by the '90s.

Another possible interpretation is when the original four gang members come together and ride off into the sunset on their bikes, as they haven't really had a chance to reunite since Will went missing in 1983. And El stays behind to live with Hopper, who marries Joyce.

However, the viewer worries that the characters won't have time to reunite because of the very tense conflict unfolding in the show's denouement. But the Redditor understands: it's all up to the series’ creators. Fans can only hope that the Duffer Brothers deliver a unique and memorable finale.
