Missed Succession? Netflix’ Perfect Darker Stand-in Is On The Way
The ins and outs of the obscenely rich family? What could be better?
The brainchild of famed British writer and producer Jesse Armstrong, Succession, ended several months ago, causing both catharsis and bitterness that it all ended exactly in the way many had expected.
On the day the final 10th episode of season 4 aired, the tag Succession appeared in global Twitter trends, and it seemed that absolutely everyone was discussing the finale.
Not only did Succession become one of HBO's biggest hits, but it will certainly go down in television history.
The series, which began as a caricature of wealthy families, has evolved into a sweeping and sarcastic work about the dynamics of family relationships exacerbated by both the immense wealth of each family member and their deep spiritual brokenness.
But some time has passed since the finale of the now-iconic series, and we are all ready for new family squabbles. Netflix has released the first full trailer for Mike Flanagan 's The Fall of the House of Usher, based on the Edgar Allan Poe story of the same name.
And while the environments of these two projects are quite different, it seems that we can expect another twisted tale of an obscenely rich family and the secrets that such a life hides.
The plot of the horror miniseries revolves around the powerful Usher family. One day, brother and sister Roderick and Madeline Usher turned their company, Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, into an empire that has allowed all of their relatives to live in prosperity and use the enormous power to their advantage.
At some point, the heirs of the Usher dynasty begin to die at the hands of a mysterious woman named Verna, played by Carla Gugino. Verna is after the Ushers because of some dark secrets the family members are hiding.
As Gugino herself said, her character is connected to mystical forces. According to the actress, Verna is responsible for fate and karma, so she has come for the Ushers, apparently to punish them for their sins.
The Fall of the House of Usher will hit Netflix on October 12.
