Milly Alcock Had Enough of Fantasy After HotD, Won't Do Another Role Like That
Enough is enough.
After her brilliant debut in House of the Dragon early episodes, Australian star Milly Alcock is no longer playing fantasy characters. In her interview with The Herald Sun, the Rhaenyra Targaryen actress said she didn't need to do it again.
"I'm not doing any fantasy roles. I don't want to do anything like that. I have done it and I don't need to do it again. I am just kind of waiting for the right project. I am not in a rush to jump on something," the actress admitted (via).
Alcock played Rhaenyra in the first five episodes of House of the Dragon Season 1. This has given her the freedom to choose her future projects, and that is something the HotD star intends to do.
"I would rather work not a lot and do work that I am really proud of and passionate about. When you sign on to a project you have to get used to talking about it for six months or a year of your life, so you want to make sure you really adore it and I am waiting for that project to come along and surprise me," Milly Alcock said.
But despite leaving the HBO franchise, she says she enjoyed watching her HotD co-stars on screen.
"I'm Team Rhaenyra – duh," Alcock says. "I think everyone is so sensational in it. Em and Liv are amazing and Paddy Considine, it seems it's only now the world is figuring out how incredible he is and how he has been since before I was born."
She also shared her experiences of working with big names in the industry such as Considine, Matt Smith and Rhys Ifans on the set of House of the Dragon and the lessons she learned.
The rising Australian star said her colleagues taught her to be open to criticism and new ideas, but also prepared to say 'no' and defend what you thought was the right decision. She said it was a good lesson for her and any young actor, especially a young woman. You should not always say "yes" and you should "know when to fight and have a voice or an opinion".
Milly Alcock is still trying to come to terms with her time on the HBO franchise. She believes it has been "truly life-changing", but admits the fame could be temporary and it will all die down in time.
