MCU Fans Are Still Not Over Infinity War's Most Polarizing Moment
Avengers: Infinity War was generally excellently received by the fandom, but it still had its questionable and controversial moments. None more controversial and polarizing than the battle on Titan, which resolution caused quite a bit of Internet rage.
Specifically, the fans were divided (still are) over the two moments.
First, even as Tony Stark teamed up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange to form the second-to-last line defense against Thanos, they realized that they were outmatched – even one Infinity Stone could make its wielder a formidable force, Thanos by that moment has four, on top of his natural ability.
So they hatched a plan to immobilize Thanos briefly so that Mantis could put him to sleep with her powers, so that they could steal the Infinity Gauntlet off him.

The plan almost worked until Peter Quill (Chris Pratt ) realized that Thanos had killed Gamora to seize the Soul Stone. Quill then, in rage, throws the plan into the dumpster, by attacking Thanos and rousing him from his magically-induced sleep at the last moment.
Well, what can we say, plot-induced stupidity is pretty commonplace in MCU, and in superhero movies in general, a good guy getting affected by it for once – and with quite an understandable impetus for his emotion-driven action – is hardly a plot hole.
The second moment is the team deciding to steal the gauntlet in the first place. Instead of, you know, just cutting Thanos' exposed throat. The idea is still being suggested to this day. And yes, while the big purple man was very tough, and could shrug off whole skyscrapers dropped on him as if they were nothing, characters in MCU are notably vulnerable to cutting implements, or at least sometimes act as if they are.

For example Thanos acted like this at the beginning of the movie, when he magically stopped Loki's knife aimed at his throat, despite being able to easily overpower Hulk, evidently, memetically even, a vastly more dangerous fighter than Loki.
But then again, in the fight on Titan, he just caught Dr. Strange's magical blade with his bare hand.
Only One Character in Eternals Might Make a Sequel Worth It
Even if, say, Drax, was actually strong enough to cut Thanos' throat before he comes back to his senses, the team had no guarantee that this could work, particularly against Thanos loaded with artifacts which properties they could not hope to understand completely. Stealing the gauntlet was simply a more reliable plan.
