MCU Facts You Probably Always Misinterpreted
With a great superhero universe, comes a great possibility of getting confused by multiple facts.
With fans of all ages knowing the origin stories of even the most obscure characters, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made superheroes more popular than ever.
However, there are many myths and misconceptions about the superhero universe that have come with this widespread popularity. Here are the most important facts about the MCU that even the most die-hard fans probably didn't know were true.
Not All X-Men Are Mutants
While most of the X-Men are mutants, you don't need to belong to an oppressed minority to join them in fighting for equal rights. Some notable X-Men, such as Spider-Man and Juggernaut, have acquired their powers as a result of accidents or magical artifacts.
Other non-mutant X-Men include characters like Fantomex, a humanoid Sentinel robot, and even Deadpool, who despite his powers, is not a mutant either but gained his abilities through Weapon X experiments.
Ghost Rider Is Not A Ghost
You are probably thinking "What the hell is he then?" and we are here to tell you that he is definitely not a ghost. Contrary to popular belief, Ghost Rider is not a ghost, but a demon named Zarathos. Johnny Blaze bonded with Zarathos by making a deal with Marvel's version of the Devil, Mephisto.
Zarathos is an evil being, so he definitely has nothing in common with a harmless Casper the Friendly Ghost image.
Groot Knows More Than Three Words
Apparently, Guardians of the Galaxy's Groot can say more than just "I am Groot. " Those who spend time with him, or understand the variations of his language, can understand his speech, and it is not for nothing, because in the comics, those three words always have a much deeper meaning.
'With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility' Isn't Uncle Ben's Phrase
The iconic phrase "With great power comes great responsibility" is commonly associated with Uncle Ben giving Peter Parker advice before he dies. But in the original comic, the line was actually spoken by the narrator of the book. Despite the initial discrepancy, especially after the 2002 Spider-Man movie, Uncle Ben has become synonymous with the quote.
Black Widow Has Superpowers
The Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff, is often referred to as one of the most dangerous of the Avengers. It is a misconception that she has no abilities beyond her martial arts skills, although she does not possess traditional superpowers.
In the comic books, Natasha received an injection of a Russian version of the Super-Soldier Serum, similar to those used to give Captain America his strength.
This serum gave her increased strength, endurance, stamina, resistance to disease, and slowed aging, putting her on par with the other Avengers.
