Dahmer renewal gives birth to Avengers parallel no one asked for.

Yes, you read that right: not only Netflix has turned its Monster project into an anthology after the tremendous global success of Dahmer, but also people are now comparing it with actual Avengers.

Earth's mightiest heroes? Well, how about Earth's worst people ever making their way on screen because of the story of Jeffrey Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Monster, being such a hit?

While some people seem to be excited, others are genuinely terrified. Because it looks like Evan Peters' Dahmer is actually "the Iron Man of the serial killer cinematic universe", as one fan on Twitter pointed out.

"[N]etflix making a cinematic universe out of serial killers is such a horrible decision, but one that does not faze me because i saw it coming after the success of [D]ahmer," another Twitter user admitted.

It turns out that few people are actually surprised by Netflix' decision to milk the Monster anthology. After all, Dahmer has made it to the platform's global top, becoming the second-biggest English-language TV show, with only Stranger Things 4 being ahead. Naturally, a green light for more seasons was only a question of time.

But the "serial killer cinematic universe" thing appears to be a little bit more real that any of us would want to.

The Dahmer renewal has predictably sparked outrage online, with people blasting Netflix for its willingness to capitalize further on victims' trauma — now, apparently, not just Jeffrey Dahmer victims.

However, it's highly unlikely that the backlash will stop Netflix from developing the anthology. One fan on Twitter noted that people are acting "like [they] didn't watch Dahmer and not planning to watch the next installment". Looks like people's obsession with true crime has now actually turned into a franchise Netflix spent so much time looking for.

Currently, two new installments of the Monster anthology are in the works. According to Netflix, they are going to "tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society". The platform has not made it clear which serial killers' histories will be adapted this time.
