Max’s Biggest Sleeper Hit Just Finished S3 & Got 97% Tomatometer, And You Still Not Watching
The most heartwarming show since Ted Lasso just had its best season.
If Hacks is not already on your list of projects to watch next, you should definitely add it. The series, which premiered its first season in 2021, will appeal to all audiences: teenagers searching for themselves, millennials tired of life, cynics and romantics.
Hacks returned for its third season on May 2 to rave reviews – it has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So what's so special about this show?
Hacks Just Returned with Its Best Season
The writers of Hacks talk about complex things in simple language, and the episodes fly by so quickly that you always want a little more.
By the third season, projects often lose their charm and appeal, and it becomes difficult to maintain a high bar, but the creators of Hacks managed the almost impossible – the third season became perhaps the best one.
What is Hacks About?
Deborah Vance (Jean Smart), a former brilliant comedian, is struggling with new material and finding herself in modern reality. By chance, she meets an aspiring comedy writer, Ava (Hannah Einbinder), who is running from a failed relationship and can't find a job.
At first, Deborah is skeptical of the young talent, but decides to give the girl a chance. Ava and Deborah soon become close friends, working on new material and helping each other become better people.
Hacks May Seem Simple, But It Delves Deep into Characters' Inner Workings
Hacks is a series that seems unpretentious and simple at first glance. In fact, it is a subtle and complex project about intergenerational relationships and self-improvement through the prism of comedy.
In addition to the excellent acting of Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder, Hacks is a meticulous exploration of the nuances of human relationships and the inner experiences of each of its main characters. Codependency or friendship? Love or selfishness? Work or relationship? The series poses many questions, and viewers join Deborah and Ava in searching for the answers.
Not surprisingly, Hacks has won four Emmy Awards (including one for writing) and two Golden Globes.
Hacks Is a New Ted Lasso
Hacks reminds a little bit of Ted Lasso – a show that did not leave anyone indifferent who watched it.
Despite the obvious differences in the plots, the two projects have in common their skillful balancing on the brink of drama and comedy, and such a combination seems simple only in words. The series evoke a light sadness and at the same time give hope that everything will be alright.
