If you were concerned about the fate of Bruce Wayne's loyal butler, there is some good news.

The Batman, another iteration of the legendary superhero on the big screen, directed by Matt Reeves, premiered on March 4, 2022, to universal acclaim from both critics and fans.

Not part of the DC Extended Universe, the story follows Batman during his earlier years fighting crime in Gotham City.

Robert Pattison, whose career has taken off since his Twilight days, portrays a much more complex and troubled version of the character, which fits the darker tone of the story perfectly.

Viewers were introduced to a big roster of characters, including Alfred Pennyworth, a loyal butler to the Wayne family who became a father figure to Bruce after his parents were murdered.

Brought to life by Andy Serkis, he helps Bruce throughout the film, providing moral support and assisting in his pursuit of an enigmatic killer terrorizing Gotham.

Unfortunately, he is accidentally blown up after opening a letter bomb addressed to Bruce. Suffering serious injuries, Alfred is hospitalized and does not play a significant role in the final act of the film, leaving fans to wonder if he would return in the film's sequel.

However, a recent GQ article reported that director Matt Reeves confirmed that Alfred will appear in the next film, so Alfred fans can start celebrating.

Andy Serkis is best known for his performance capture roles, bringing computer-generated characters to life.

He first came to widespread attention as Gollum in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001-2003), and also provided the motion capture for King Kong in the 2005 film of the same name, Ceaesar in the Planet of the Apes films (2011, 2014, and 2017), and many more.

He also made his directorial debut with the 2017 film Breathe, and later directed Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), set in Sony's Spider-Man universe.

The Batman – Part II is scheduled for release on October 3, 2025, with principal photography beginning in November 2023. There are also plans for a third installment in the series.
