A loophole in the actor's therapy agreement allowed him to star in Oppenheimer.

For us ordinary fans, it's hard to imagine how chaotic the life of an actor can be. While there are some undeniable perks that come with the celebrity lifestyle, such as financial security, lavish events, and a lot of important connections, there's one major drawback to balance it all out: you have virtually no time to spend with your loved ones.

Of course, it's not impossible to squeeze in a fun family vacation between filming one movie and promoting another, but not every couple can handle the distance. Many celebrities have to work ten times harder in their relationship to make it work.

Matt Damon, for example, had to take a complete break from acting just to spend more time with his wife and three daughters. However, there was a loophole in the couple's negotiated therapy contract that allowed the actor to work on Oppenheimer without breaking it.

When Damon and his Oppenheimer castmates, along with Christopher Nolan himself, talked to Entertainment Weekly about the new film, the actor opened up about the terms he and his wife agreed to regarding his break from acting.

"This is going to sound made-up, but it's actually true. <...> I actually negotiated in couples therapy — this is a true story — the one caveat to my taking time off was if Chris Nolan called. This is without knowing whether or not he was working on anything, because he never tells you. He just calls you out of the blue. And so, it was a moment in my household," the actor shared.

Fortunately, this little loophole allowed Matt Damon to join the cast of Oppenheimer without wreaking havoc on his relationship. No matter how excited fans are to see their favorite star back on the big screen, no role in the world could mean more than that of a husband and father. And Damon is set to play it with full commitment.
