Marvel’s Biggest Disaster Is Just 1 Step Away From Dominating Netflix US Top
It doesn’t come as a big surprise, though.
The MCU flicks may not impress moviegoers that much anymore, but they still have a chance to get some hype from online viewers, however bad they might initially be.
Marvel’s recent big failure, Madame Web, surely didn’t have its best time during the theatrical run back in February, but it seems to be in a much better position now that the movie made its way to Netflix a couple of weeks ago.
As expected, Madame Web’s poor reviews and underperformance in the box office didn’t stop it from getting into the streaming’s top 10 chart quite soon after the digital release.
According to the latest data provided by FlixPatrol, Madame Web is holding a second place at Netflix’s top, competing only with the Blake Lively starrer comedy thriller A Simple Favour that to-date is the streaming’s most-watched movie.
It still won’t come as a surprise if Madame Web actually makes its way to the very top of the chart within several days. The audience score is currently improving and many viewers seem to really enjoy the flick, despite the fact that a few months ago it was completely crashed by everyone who got to see it.
As part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, Madame Web stars Hollywood’s high-ranking actresses Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney and Emma Roberts. The storyline follows Cassandra Webb, portrayed by Johnson, who discovers her ability to see the future, working as a paramedic in New York City.
Having decided to use her talent for good, Cassandra embarks on a personal fight with her past while trying to save three young women whose future as Spider Women may end their lives.
Upon its arrival at the cinemas, Madame Web got to be Marvel’s worst nightmare. The movie was expected to become a major hit and box office giant, but instead ended up grossing only $100 million against the initial budget of the same amount and holding a miserable score of 11% from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite that, the streaming seems to keep making its trick as Madame Web’s audience score isn’t that bad anymore, now reaching 57% according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Madame Web can now be streamed on Netflix globally.
