Marvel Cornered Itself Into a Trap With Thunderbolts' Iconic Villain
The upcoming Thunderbolts movie may feature Sentry – the hero with "the power of the thousand suns" – as its center antagonist, according to a new rumor shared by MCU scooper CanWeGetToast.
The introduction of Sentry into the MCU was something fans have been craving for a long time, with fancasts already pouring all over Twitter. However, Sentry's alleged villain role in Thunderbolts has but one little problem.
In the comics, he boasts an impressive set of superpowers akin to those of Superman in DC. Meanwhile, Thunderbolts are your average "street-level superheroes", a team that consists of a makeshift "Captain America, a Black Widow, Abomination, and Hawkeye – a line-up that, with all due respect, has nothing against someone who has the power of the thousand suns.
This is why fans believe that Marvel will have to significantly reduce Sentry's powers if he is indeed to face off with the Thunderbolts team.
Love & Thunder Turned Waititi Into Marvel Fandom's Favorite Punching Bag
If the rumor is true, and Marvel decides to introduce Sentry as he is in the comics, Thunderbolts are "very dead", according to fans.
It's not even about the everlasting urge to complain about things (which, let's be honest, happens a lot in the fandoms).
"What are the thunderbolts gonna do against Sentry. I'm not even one of those annoying people who complain that everyone has the same powers but i have no idea what they're gonna do against him," Twitter user michael74972245 wondered.
Currently, there are no official plot details when it comes to Thunderbolts. According to the leak, it will be Valentina Allegra who "creates" Sentry, and fans already suspect that she will try to use Thunderbolts to fix her mistake.
Thunderbolts will premiere in theatres on July 26, 2024.
