Barbie is a month away, and every detail we learn about its production only makes us want to see it more.

Ever since Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling landed the lead roles, the movie has come under fire because of the age difference between the actors. Margot is 32 years old, but Ryan is 10 years older, making many fans question his suitability for the part.

None of us should fret too much – Robbie did share with Vogue that Ken is “the greatest version of Ryan Gosling ever put on screen.” That counts for something, right?

Still, despite all the controversy, Barbie is one of the most hyped-up films of 2023 (most of Greta Gerwig’s projects tend to be much-desired by the public), and people are eager to find out more about it.

In an interview for Vogue, Ryan Gosling refused to give us the tea on Ken and his path to discovering his character, saying that he considered it to be a “very un-Ken” thing to do. We guess we’ll find out everything in due time.

He did mention that Margot Robbie was a big help in the matter, but not in the way anyone would expect. The actress actually left an all-pink gift for Ryan (signed “From Barbie to Ken”) every day of filming. Isn’t that just the sweetest thing?

Gosling went on to reveal that all of the presents were “beach-related.” For instance, he received puka shells and a sign that read, “Pray for surf” among other things.

Apparently, Robbie thought that Ken’s occupation was “just beach,” but the actor admitted that he had never understood what that meant.

Ryan appreciated Margot’s assistance, believing that she was “trying to help Ken understand.” The actress’ nice gesture can be interpreted as method acting of sorts, and this dedication gives us hope that Barbie will turn out to be just as awesome as everyone makes it out to be.
