The last time Grey's Anatomy featured a beach, Meredith Grey was in a coma. She wandered in a sort of dream world between life and death, visited by the living and those who had passed away.

Her visitors included Derek Shepherd, Lexie Grey, Miranda Bailey, and Andrew DeLuca, whom she had conversations with. Meredith's beach scenes were all warm and peaceful, and a big stretch from what Grey's Anatomy fans were used to.

However, it also brought up many questions with few answers. How did the beach work? Theories of how her conversations occurred included her being visited by spirits of lost loved ones or that conversations happening around her in real life were appearing in her dreams.

Meredith's otherworldly experience was and still is very confusing, with many fans feeling that it didn't belong on the medical series, describing it as a coma-induced nightmare. Fans may not be ready to see the ocean again in the series, but will surely warm up to the beach scene that Camilla Luddington pictures as the perfect ending.

In Luddington's vision, it all ends on a beach.

Having been a part of the series since season 9, her character has been a part of the tragedies and drama that has unfolded at Grey Sloan Memorial. As Jo Wilson, she has bid farewell to friends and colleagues.

Andrew DeLuca was stabbed trying to take down a sex trafficking ring, Derek Shepherd died from injuries sustained in a car accident, Heather Brooks was electrocuted and hit her head, not to mention Jo's very own abusive ex-husband dying from head injuries after trying to attack her. It has been a tough ride for Jo Wilson, even though she missed out on all the devastation that took place before her 9th season entry, like the plane crash and hospital shooting.

It's no surprise that Luddington is tired of Grey's Anatomy's tragic twists and misery, and with the end coming into sight, she wants the surviving characters to have a joyous, peaceful exit to celebrate everything good about the show and end on a positive note.

She joked during an interview that all she wants is the beach, and some well-deserved cocktails; and fans are all for the idea.

With Grey's Anatomy's writers being notorious for shocking and tragic plot twists, both Luddington and fans know they can't be too hopeful for a happy ending but hope that at least a gentle, tragedy-free exit is on the cards.
