Lost, Prison Break & 4 More Iconic Disney Shows Coming to Netflix in 2024
As great as streaming is, sometimes what we really want are old favorites.
Luckily Netflix is continuing to shuffle its lineup, and in the next few years some classic shows will become available on the streamer.
Here are some of the titles you can expect to see over the next year.
Lost (2004)
Original Network: ABC
Number of Seasons: 6
On Netflix: July 1st, 2024
This show pretty much defined The J.J. Abrams Way: start with a twisty, puzzle-box narrative, add a wildly talented ensemble, and then… never give the audience any answers.
In spite of its increasingly convoluted and ultimately frustrating plot, there's no denying the cultural juggernaut that was Lost. It fascinated millions of viewers, made a star out of Evangeline Lilly, and catapulted Abrams to a 'household name' level of fame.
This Is Us (2016)
Original Network: NBC
Number of Seasons: 6
On Netflix: January 8th, 2024
In the pilot of this NBC drama, we meet three people who share the same birthday. Kate is a personal assistant struggling with obesity; Kevin is a television star who has quit his show; and Randall is a businessman searching for info about his biological parents. In the meantime, flashbacks show pregnant couple Jack and Rebecca Pearson in 1980.
By the end of the pilot, the relationship between these five people is clear, and This Is Us goes on to tug at your heartstrings for 106 wonderful episodes.
Home Improvement (1991)
Original Network: ABC
Number of Seasons: 8
On Netflix: February 1st, 2025
If you grew up in the 90s, you can probably still hum the theme song for family sitcom Home Improvement. Tim Allen plays Tim 'The Toolman' Taylor, a handyman who hosts his own home improvement show and deals with three rowdy boys growing up at home. Patricia Richardson plays his long-suffering wife Jill, and Earl Hindman plays next door neighbor Wilson (whose face, in an 8-year running gag, is always obscured by a fence or other random object.)
Prison Break (2005)
Original Network: Fox
Number of Seasons: 5 (plus a movie)
On Netflix: July 29th, 2024
Although the show grew increasingly ludicrous as it went on, the first season of Prison Break was freakin' AWESOME. In it, genius architect Michael Burrows gets himself incarcerated into the same maximum security prison where his brother is being held. Tattooed onto his body is an elaborate escape plan that will see both of them free before the year is out. Half of the fun of Prison Break is watching the plan slowly come together, though of course it hits a lot of bumps on the road.
White Collar ( 2009)
Original Network: USA Network
Number of Seasons: 6
On Netflix: April 1st, 2024
Charming criminal Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) cons his way out of maximum security prison one day, only to be nabbed once again by the FBI. Caffrey makes a proposal: in exchange for his freedom, he'll work with the bureau to catch other conmen, counterfeiters, and criminals. After all, he knows exactly how they operate.
Now's a great time to catch up with White Collar, since rumors are swirling that there might be a movie follow-up in the works.
The Wonder Years (1988)
Original Network: ABC
Number of Seasons: 6
On Netflix: January 1st, 2024
If you're looking for a blast of nostalgia, you can't do better than The Wonder Years. Fred Savage stars as Kevin Arnold, who's 12 years old in the year of 1968. As the show progresses, Kevin experiences both the turbulence of the 60s-70s and the fraught challenges of growing up.
In 2016, Rolling Stone named The Wonder Years #63 on its list of the greatest television shows of all time.
