One of Hollywood's greatest action film directors unexpectedly became one of the biggest winners of the 2022 Oscars, getting two awards for his films based on fan voting. But was the competition fair?

This year's Academy Awards introduced two brand new categories, Best Cheer Moment and Fan Favorite Movie, in which fans would determine the winner by voting on Twitter. Despite the incredible success of Marvel's 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' last year, the winners in both categories were rather unexpected – 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' and Snyder's 'Army of the Dead', respectively. Snyder seems to have millions of fans behind him. Or maybe just selected few?

In a recent report by The Wrap, the validity of these votes was finally examined, and professional analysts concluded that the reason Snyder's films won the Oscars was most likely due to a bot attack carried out by some of the director's most loyal fans. Unknown attackers probably created thousands of fake Twitter accounts and, after waiting 24 hours in compliance with the Oscar voting rules, forced those accounts to vote for Snyder's films.

Snyder fans are clearly infuriated by this whole situation, accusing Marvel fans of discrediting the DCEU fandom.

However, other fans are quite surprised that the media is only finding out about the rigged awards now, given that these speculations were discussed on Twitter way back in March.
