Let's Be Honest: TBBT Completely Ruined Georgie's Shot at Happiness
The Big Bang Theory made a lot of Coopers worse than they actually were, but what it did to Georgie doesn't even compare!
Young Sheldon 's season 6 sees Georgie in a new light – becoming a father and trying to make his relationship with Mandy work.
We can be as hopeful as we want about his future, but The Big Bang Theory has already given us a glimpse (and it does not look good at all).
Years ago, we learned that adult Georgie had at least two ex-wives (one of whom could have been Mandy) and numerous girlfriends since then.
When Sheldon's older brother makes his appearance in season 11 of The Big Bang Theory, we see a cocky playboy with a successful business (and all the character development that Georgie has had and may have on Young Sheldon can just as easily be thrown out the window).
While adult Sheldon's comments on The Big Bang Theory can be taken as his way of seeing things, the drastically different behavior of the adult characters from Young Sheldon who appear on the original show is much harder to disregard.
Most of them are used purely as comedic relief, and the way they are portrayed in The Big Bang Theory can be explained by that.
Unfortunately, Georgie is one of those characters that the original show just outright ruined. Besides the fact that he hasn't found happiness with Mandy or anyone else up to that point, Georgie and Missy's relationship seems to revert to nothing.
Grown-up Georgie refers to his sister as "a dumb teenager." Considering how close they have grown to be on Young Sheldon, that feels like a slap in the face that we can't come back from.
Young Sheldon may not be over yet, but the future seems bleak for Georgie anyway.
We know that he ends up being the one to take care of the family after his dad dies (and he is bitter about it in the future).
Maybe this is why he becomes the man we see on TBBT? If that is the case and the writers work that into Young Sheldon's plot, George's death and the events that follow it will prove to be even more devastating than we expect.
We are so not ready for this…
