First it was Law & Order SVU, and now this?

Although Law & Order: Organized Crime has only been around for a little over three years, and despite being the most recent addition to the famous procedural franchise in the Dick Wolf universe, it has already garnered a legion of fans who adore the series and are eager for more.

While some associate its success with the move of a fan-favorite character previously featured in another very popular series, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Elliot Stabler, others simply prefer the different pace the show offers.

What makes Organized Crime stand out so much is its slower and more deliberate approach, with the case usually resolved in a matter of a few episodes.

For three seasons straight, viewers had a blast with the show, not knowing how soon their bliss would end. Of course, there were some trials and tribulations along the way, as the series went through five showrunners.

With so many changes over the years, fans are almost used to unsettling news, but the one thing they can't handle is losing the precious team that finally seemed so perfect in season 3.

Led by Detective Stabler, they had the perfect balance of charisma, emotion, wit and intelligence to crack the mystery of their cases while still being entertaining. Losing Jamie Whelan was not on anyone's bingo card for the season 3 finale.

Introducing a new character in the third season of the show, making him likable and slowly developing him into what appears to be a new Stabler, and then just killing him off is cold even by Wolf's standards.

It just goes to show that the only people you can be sure of in Organized Crime are Elliot, Jet and Bell.

In April 2023, the show was renewed for another season, but NBC made it significantly shorter, with 13 episodes instead of the usual 23, leading fans to believe that the worst times were ahead for the show.

Despite the creators' best efforts to calm everyone down and explain that the season was cut short for creative reasons, no one seems to buy it, especially after the disappointment of the finale.

Either way, Law & Order Organized Crime won't be hitting our screens until 2024, and that's only if the show isn't affected by the writers' strike.

Until then, keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
