Latest The White Lotus Update Teases an Even ‘Crazier’ New Season
What can possibly be crazier than Jennifer Coolidge in total pink?
Summary:
- The White Lotus season 3 will be “bigger” says the creator of the show.
- Mike White is already finishing the scripts for the show and is ready to start casting.
- Natasha Rothwell will be joining season 3 as Belinda.
The White Lotus took the world by storm when the show's first season was released in 2021. The mysterious drama with a mix of quirky humor and serious issues at the center of the story created the perfect atmosphere of darkness combined with a certain amount of silliness.
However, it was the second season that proved the show to be the masterpiece that it really is. Viewers and critics praised the acting of the cast, especially Aubrey Plaza and, of course, Jennifer Coolidge's iconic character.
The White Lotus became the show everyone was talking about, and the anticipation for season 3 has already reached its peak. That's why fans were excited to hear at least some news about their favorite show. Series creator Mike White revealed some details about the upcoming season in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
White, and we quote, promises that the new season will be "longer, bigger, crazier." He also mentioned that he is already finishing the script and can't wait to start the casting process. As all fans know, the main characters are different every season (except for Coolidge), so it's still a big mystery who will be in the new season.
While everything the showrunner has already said is a lot to take in, these revelations still don't give us much understanding of what will happen later in the story.
What Can Season 3 Be About?
Well, there are some facts that we already know about the upcoming season. For example, we know that it will be filmed in Thailand and that it will take a closer look at Eastern religion and its peculiarities. The theme of death will still be in the center of the plot and will be put under the satirical spell that is common for the series.
It's also been established that a character from season 1 will be returning for the new season, and that's Natasha Rothwell's Belinda. And there's a guess that she will have some sort of connection to the presumed death of Tanya McQuoid, Coolidge's character.
So there's a chance that her assistant Portia, who's played by Haley Lu Richardson, might also come into the show and maybe try to investigate what happened to Tanya on the boat.
