Last Year’s $337 Million Hit Is Finally on Prime Video Now
Half a year after its theatrical release, The Hunger Games prequel joins the original trilogy on the streaming platform.
Seems like Prime Video is in its The Hunger Games era, as the streaming has recently added all the flicks that the franchise has so far.
Several days ago four of The Hunger Games movies arrived on Prime Video, becoming some kind of a gift to longtime fans that now have another reason to binge-watch it all again, but the collection got even bigger after The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes also made its way to the streaming.
What Is The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes About?
Released back in 2023, the movie comes as a prequel to the original trilogy, following the earlier years of future President of Panem Coriolanus Snow when he involuntarily becomes an essential part of the relentless game of survival. A student of Panem’s prestigious Academy, Coriolanus is assigned as a mentor to Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from the godforsaken District 12.
Things seem to be pretty bad for him at first, but when Lucy Gray’s charm suddenly starts working wonders for everyone in Panem, Coriolanus sees it as a chance to turn his tribute’s potential victory into his own merit that will later on clear his disgraced family’s name.
Starring Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler as Coriolanus Snow and Lucy Gray respectively, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes was a stunning success upon its release last year. The movie got to be the one to rule over the box office garnering around $337 million against the initial budget of $100 million and also received everyone’s acclaim having landed scores of 63% and 89% from critics and viewers on Rotten Tomatoes.
Overall, by bringing the fan-favorite dystopian franchise back to the big screen and featuring a star-packed cast that also includes Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer and Viola Davis, the film was surely destined to receive that much of the world’s attention.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, as well as The Hunger Games four movies, can now be streamed on Prime Video.
