The key is to embrace the change.

Summary:

  • La Brea is an NBC sci-fi drama produced in Australia.
  • For its 3rd season, La Brea is going to continue without three more regular cast members, ack Martin, Veronica St. Clair, and Tonantzin Carmelo.
  • Executive producer and showrunner David Appelbaum says that they don’t view the departures as challenges, but rather as circumstances to adapt the story to.

It's borderline impossible to create shows that blow audiences away like Game of Thrones or Succession. While there may be nothing particularly wrong with the show, audiences may take their time to like it, and depending on how the team responds, the show may live on for several more years regardless.

The road to recognition for La Brea has never been the easiest, and the NBC sci-fi property is still fighting for its survival. With the recent premiere of the third and final season, the production team is finally ready to reveal some of their secrets.

How will they affect the show's reviews when it's over? We will have to wait and see.

La Brea Season 3 Cast Exits

As it turned out, season 3 of the show will continue without some of the actors that viewers have grown to love over the past two years. Jack Martin, Veronica St. Clair, and Tonantzin Carmelo, who portrayed Josh, Riley, and Paara, were absent from the premiere episode and won't be returning.

While the news came as a shock to some viewers, others saw it as a sign of desperation. Not only was the show losing viewers, it was also losing cast members. However, La Brea showrunner David Appelbaum has a much more positive take on the matter.

Speaking to TVLine, he described the team's approach to the show as follows:

“There are so many situations and opportunities that come out through production that you write towards and you embrace. <...> You figure it out, and it is what it is,” Appelbaum said.

As sad and annoying for the viewers the changes may be, the showrunner takes pride in the fact that La Brea’s production team has managed to “hold onto what the heart of the show has always been,” and it’s hard to disagree with that sentiment.

Hopefully, throughout season 3 the fans of the show will only be assured of that, and the grand finale will be worth the wait. If you want to join La Brea characters on their final adventure and find out whether the show will be able to tie all loose ends in just 5 more episodes, tune in to NBC every Tuesday to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
