Let’s see how it goes for the expecting couple.

Summary:

  • La Brea is an Australian NBC science fiction drama about sinkholes that send people to 10,000 BC.
  • In January 2023, the show was renewed for its final season 3, which will premiere one year later, on January 9, 2024.
  • Two of the show's least fan-favorite characters now promise a steady redemption arc.

Though reviews of NBC's sci-fi drama La Brea have been mixed from the start, those who have started the series find it hard to turn away: the time-traveling mystery never lets up.

Luckily, the wait for all the answers about the Lazarus Project of 2076, the imminent extinction and the portals that send people through time will soon be over. The upcoming season 3 of La Brea will be the final one for the series and will provide the much needed closure.

However, it's not only the science behind the events of the show that needs some sort of resolution, but also the interpersonal relationships. So far, viewers haven't been too fond of Lucas Hayes and Veronica Castillo, both as a couple and as individual characters. Season 3 may be the one for a change in that department as well.

Lily Santiago, the actress behind the religious and firm Veronica, teases a whole new character arc, not only for herself, but also for her on-screen partner, Josh McKenzie as Lucas. While it would be hard for viewers to forget what they've done in the past, they may want to give these characters a second chance.

Here's what the actress had to say about the couple's development in the upcoming season 3 in an interview with TVLine:

“I think we’re more forgivable this season. The things we do are all well-intenioned, where it might not have been that way in the past. Also, we’re allowed to be sort of ‘goofy kids falling in love and figuring out how to be parents’, instead of just being these bad people that have done horrible things and won’t let themselves move past it because it’s just too bad.”

As season 3 of the show will be the final one, viewers are expecting to finally get some answers and get the survivors back in their respective timelines.

How will Veronica and Lucas navigate their romance, pregnancy, and the final steps of their mission? Tune in to NBC's La Brea on January 9, 2024 to find out.
