Kim Raver Has A Lot to Say About Canceling Grey's Anatomy
The idea of Grey's Anatomy season 19 being the series' last has been met with a range of mixed emotions from fans.
Grey's fans are divided between those who can't bear the thought of the medical drama flatlining, and those who are ready to let go and move on from the iconic series in the same way that Meredith Grey did, with fond memories.
One of the people campaigning for the continuation of the series is Grey's Anatomy actress Kim Raver, who first appeared on the series back in 2009 as Dr. Teddy Altman and has been a part of the series for over 120 episodes.
Whilst it is undeniable that Meredith Grey was one of the driving forces behind the medical drama's remarkably long run, Raver believes that the show can continue to thrive even in the main character's absence, because there are so many more stories to tell.
In a recent interview, Raver explained that there is "[something] inherently in Grey's Anatomy and the amazing way to tell human stories and I feel like that just can keep going."
Not only does the fictional series feature emotional and captivating storylines, but it has also been praised time and time again for highlighting relevant social issues that need to be addressed and making many fans feel like they are being recognized or represented in the show.

Grey's Anatomy has survived the departures of most of its original cast members, that included favorite characters Christina Yang, Derek Shepherd, and Alex Karev, and whilst Meredith's absence leaves the biggest hole, her season-long Covid-19 induced coma may serve as proof that she does not need to feature in every episode and every story in the hospital for fans to want to watch Grey's.
The series has also introduced a whole new set of interns with the promise of a new chapter of Grey's filled with stories of their drama, romances, fascinating medical cases and more, set in the familiar walls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

With so many years of experience on the show, Raver knows that it will be able to continue despite the belief of so many that Meredith's absence will ultimately be what ends Grey's Anatomy.
For Kim Raver, reaching season 20 of Grey's would be more than just a big achievement, it would be a chance for the series to tell so many more important stories and focus on a new group of characters with huge potential, saying "I think its longevity can keep going because the stories are ever-evolving."
