It's been days since the Keanu Reeves-led 'Constantine' sequel announcement, but the dispute between Reeves fans and those who like Matt Ryan's take on the character continues.

As Matt Ryan 's John Constantine enjoys an unusual amount of fan love online in the wake of the movie sequel announcement, Keanu Reeves fans turn skeptical. A new Reeves-led movie has not prompted a lot of enthusiasm among comic fans who have been traditionally frowning upon the dark-haired American Constantine, but the frenzy about Ryan's exorcist currently seems a bit forced to those who are okay with Reeves' take.

"I've said this before but I'll say it again.. Matt is more accurate, but Keanu gives a more grounded performance in his movie. I don't think either one is "better" or "worse" than the other because they're playing two completely different takes on the character. Imo" – @RedHoodJuggalo

Ryan has been praised as a lot more comic-accurate John Constantine than Reeves: in line with the source material, his character is blonde, rocks a beige trench coat, and is British. Still, the NBC TV series quickly came to an end after just one season aired in 2014. The network canceled the show as it failed to reach the benchmark of 4.3 million views that the pilot episode had. Besides, many people have been slamming the show for looking way too similar to 'Supernatural ' and failing to adapt a lot of things signature for the character: for instance, NBC prohibited the show from using cigarettes, even though smoking heavily is what makes John Constantine himself.

Keanu Reeves fans are perfectly fine with Matt Ryan being more comic-accurate, but his Constantine, according to them, was not as amazing and impeccable in both NBC TV series and DC's 'Legends of Tomorrow' (where Ryan's character ended up after the solo show's cancellation).

Now that Matt Ryan fans are fuming over their fav's ill fate, social media users are trying to urge everyone to not escalate things.

"I think @mattryanreal gave a better performance in the role of Constantine, but I don't think Keanu Reeves was bad, just less comic-accurate. I would prefer a world where they both could keep entertaining us as Constantine as two different versions," Twitter user billvinson said.

Immediately after the movie sequel announcement and a sudden increase in love for Keanu Reeves' Constantine, Matt Ryan's fans were the ones to quickly rise up in arms and defend their fav. Now, tables are turning once again, and people are calling on others not to undermine Reeves' work simply because of the lack of comic accuracy.

"I think the movie was a decent adaptation of an "American" John Constantine. I think the angels were both cast well, and Peter Stormare is probably my favorite version of Satan. The dripping oil was perfect and the scene full of tension." – @DarthBenzo

The premiere date for the Keanu Reeves-led 'Constantine' sequel is yet to be announced. Plot details remain a mystery, but we do know that the original director, Francis Lawrence, is also set to return to work on the sequel.
