Keanu Reeves Almost Starred in Latest Fast & Furious Movie
This may sound a bit ridiculous… Alright, it does sound ridiculous. It doesn't change the reality, though: Keanu Reeves was supposed to star in Fast X and almost did!
Keanu Reeves is a genius actor and the Internet's sweetheart.
While everyone loves Keanu, Keanu loves dramatic roles: his characters truly shine in the darkest settings, be it his Neo, John Contantine, John Wick, or even Johnny Silverhand. Something about the wholesome and kind Reeves just goes really well with drama and angst.
This is why it's virtually impossible to imagine Keanu in Fast & Furious which is arguably the least serious franchise no matter how hard it tries to sell itself as such.
While packed with action and tough-looking guys, Fast & Furious is still mostly a theme park for the bros who want to watch cool cars explode for two hours straight.
Still, Keanu Reeves was apparently supposed to join the latest installment of the franchise, Fast X, as Aimes, the new head of The Agency.
In the end, this role went to Alan Ritchson, but not because Keanu declined the offer — there was some timing issue and it was the only thing that stopped Reeves from playing his bit.
"It was just a little stroke of luck and good timing. I was working on a movie with Hilary Swank up in Winnipeg in the freezing cold, and I got a call that things had shifted in the plans with Keanu Reeves, which is I think who was originally intended to play my part. Tough act to follow," admits Alan Ritchson.
While Keanu presumably agreed to play Aimes and only missed out on the role because of some unexpected circumstances, this wasn't even the first time the Fast & Furious franchise tried recruiting the actor.
Keanu was also in talks to play the villain behind the Eteon in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
For now, neither of the invitations worked out, but the very fact that Keanu Reeves was considering those offers shows that the actor is ready to jump on board of the Fast & Furious train.
We still can't imagine him in this franchise, to be entirely honest with you, but knowing Keanu, he would've made any F&F entry better anyway.
