Karl Urban Addresses Fans Begging Him To Become The New MCU Wolverine
'The Boys' actor was always fandom's number one choice for the role of the clawed mutant, but Urban seems to have a more unique take on the possibility of him playing the role.
With the impending introduction of X-Men into the MCU, f fans once again began discussing which actor could fill the gap left by Hugh Jackman, with Karl Urban and Daniel Radcliffe being the main candidates. Urban, who played the role of tough Billy Butcher in Amazon's 'The Boys ', cemented his status as the perfect man for the job, given Wolverine's status as one of Marvel's coolest and most brutal superheroes.
But it seems that while Urban appreciates fan support, he's still pretty skeptical when it comes to Feige hiring him for the part, as the actor recently told The Guardian.
"It's flattering, but you have to rationally think about it. I'm what, two years younger than Hugh Jackman? I mean, if I was a studio looking to cast someone as Wolverine, I'd pick someone I'll get three films out of. You're not going to get three films out of Karl Urban unless you want a 65-year-old Wolverine," Urban said.
And he does have a point. The MCU is trying to hire much younger actors for major roles in its films, and Wolverine will certainly play a huge part in the upcoming Phase 4 of Disney 's Marvel universe. So perhaps Radcliffe's candidacy is more realistic after all.
Urban's next big project is 'The Boys' Season 3, which premiered on Amazon Prime on June 2.
