Kamala Khan's DNA Reveal Explained by Iman Vellani

The sixth and final episode of 'Ms. Marvel', titled 'No Normal', has truly made waves after its premiere, affecting even those who haven't really been watching. There was a truly cosmic revelation in the episode, with MCU seemingly introducing mutants and making Kamala Khan one of them.

For actress Iman Vellani, who portrays Kamala, this was a deal huge enough to text Marvel President Kevin Feige in all caps, basically yelling at him in an e-mail. According to Marvel, Vellani could hardly get through the take when she was filming the "there's something in your genes" scene, beaming with happiness and excitement.

"They sent me, and only me, the draft [of the final episode], and I immediately freaked out," Vellani recalls. "I emailed Kevin Feige in all caps. I was like, are you doing this like for real? Are you sure? I'm so honored! [...] I was freaking out. This is the biggest deal in the world, and the fact that it's happening in our show is crazy."

Kamala's DNA thing was perhaps the biggest secret of the show, and Vellani still cannot believe she is finally allowed to say the word out loud.

The future, however, is vague even for the actors: both Vellani and Matt Lintz ( Bruno Carrelli) have no idea as to what happens next and how the mutants thing is going to play out in the upcoming projects.

But it looks like Kamala Khan is indeed the first official mutant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We might know more when 'The Marvels ' movie comes out, set to focus on a team-up of Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala, as Captain Marvel, Photon, and Ms. Marvel respectively. The movie is due in theatres in July 2023.
