Kaley Cuoco’s 2008 Slasher Movie Role Is Everything TBBT’s Penny Could Dream of

The Big Bang Theory may have completely failed Penny and her dream to become a prominent actress in Hollywood, but at least Kaley Cuoco made it come true in another movie.

At around the same time that The Big Bang Theory came along back in 2007, Penny’s actress Kaley Cuoco starred in a 2008 slasher film Killer Movie which eventually made quite an impression on moviegoers and, ironically, let Cuoco live the life that her most recognizable character was always trying to get to.

Is Killer Movie Worth Watching?

Also starring Paul Wesley and Leighton Meester, Killer Movie follows a reality show crew that gets cut off in a remote Northern town as it’s being stalked by a killer. With all the heated atmosphere and heightened tension, the crew members’ darkest secrets and past suspicions resurface when it’s already become a total nightmare for the reality show director Jake to keep up with the shooting schedule.

In the movie, Kaley Cuoco portrays huge film star Blanca Champion who initially appears as nothing more but a mere parody of glamorous starlets that were on the peak of their fame back in the 2000s.

Killer Movie eventually got accolades from viewers, garnering $14 million against the initial budget of only $2 million and landing a score of 67% from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie and specifically Cuoco’s role in it came as a disheartening anti-prophecy for the actress’s character in The Big Bang Theory, as by the time of Killer Movie’s theatrical release the sitcom was only getting started and even its creators probably had no clue about how much they would ruin Penny’s life afterwards.

Initially introduced as an aspiring actress taking up minor opportunities to get into Hollywood, Penny has been constantly rejected at the auditions and eventually gave up on her biggest dream realizing that she wouldn’t want to spend her entire life earning little money for showing up in cheap commercials.

Instead, Penny was quick enough to find another, a much better paid job as a sales rep, though she still repeatedly admitted she wasn’t happy and was just doing this for the big money that she was making.

The Big Bang Theory’s prequel Young Sheldon recently gave an even more disheartening update on Penny, implying that the character still had a passion for acting, years after she completely abandoned the idea to ever become a successful actress.
