Kaley Cuoco Transformation Shocked TBBT Creator as Much as Viewers
Making a decision on your own when you are part of a show where a character has his own bathroom schedule sounds crazy at the very least.
The Big Bang Theory is one of those shows where you least expect unpredictable things to happen.
For example, Sheldon will always wear a T-shirt with some sort of print over a different colored long sleeve, Howard will always have a giant belt buckle hanging from his tiny waist, and Amy Farrah Fowler's look will always be one hundred layered.
The same was true for Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco. For the first seven seasons of the show, she had the same hairstyle, medium-length golden blonde hair.
But everything changed in season 8 when she appeared on screen in the first episode with a pixie cut!
Needless to say, fans were shocked to see their beloved Blondie looking completely different, as the new hair changed the whole vibe of her appearance.
A lot of fans on the Internet started to badmouth her new style. But the funniest thing is that her decision to make a change came as a shock to the showrunners as well!
Apparently, Kaley didn't tell a soul that she was going to change her hair. And when she arrived on the set, the writers were really surprised and didn't know what to do.
But, well, they turned out to be creative enough to make that change a part of the narrative.
While Lorre still wishes Cuoco had given him a warning about her huge style change, he understands that in the bigger picture, it wasn't the end of the world.
He said in The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Series, "I love that Kaley saw it for what it was. She's very self-aware, and we got through it. As bumps in the road go, this was a small one."
Well, you know you're a valuable team member when you can pull a stunt like that and get away with it, huh?
