The actress’ real-life problem was suspiciously quick to become her character’s one too.

Throughout its TV span of 12 years, The Big Bang Theory spent quite a long time following its characters’ ups and downs in both professional and personal life, but there was a time when the show risked crossing all the borders possible.

Constantly creating more and more problems that prevented Penny and Leonard from being a normal couple with a potential future together, the show unexpectedly had a big impact on a real-life plot twist seeing the actors Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki developing feelings for each other as well.

Their romance didn’t last long though, and The Big Bang Theory’s plot line was once believed to have hinted at the issue, thus causing a major misunderstanding on set.

Cuoco and Galecki’s relationships got a big update while they were still filming The Big Bang Theory’s first seasons, yet, despite both of them trying to keep their romance as private as possible, the couple eventually ended up calling it quits back in 2009.

Though the actors never made their separation official for anyone, the show’s creators were definitely aware of it, and that’s what brought Cuoco some certain doubts regarding the sitcom’s season 3 plot twist.

In there, Leonard and Penny come to a common decision to end their relationship since it doesn’t seem to work out anymore, but Penny soon makes it clear that she’s still pretty much into Leonard and ultimately regrets breaking up with him.

The fact that The Big Bang Theory’s writers came up with an idea to make things even more complicated for their characters came as an indication for both actors that it could be some kind of hidden comment on what had happened between them in real life.

Cuoco later on revealed that filming the scene where Penny and Sheldon are discussing the whole situation had almost led to her bursting into tears.

However, the issue was soon addressed by the show’s co-creator Chuck Lorre who denied any possibility of including the actors’ personal life details into the plot line.

According to Lorre, “making a good show has no room for f—king with anybody.”

“There’s no Let’s mess with Kaley and Johnny. The goal was to make a great show and make every minute of every episode count. And that was the only goal. We don’t have that kind of freedom to risk a TV series that you put your heart and soul into to mess with somebody’s head,” he said.

It’s safe to say the whole mess was eventually cleared up, reassuring everyone that the actors’ real-life breakup would never even be addressed in the sitcom anyway.

Additionally, Galecki and Cuoco remained good friends, so there’s no reason for the show’s fans to get stressed about the matter whatsoever.
