If you've been avoiding the South Korean TV industry, it's time to give it a chance.

The worldwide obsession with all things Korean is now a long-running story, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon. However, there are still people out there who keep their distance from popular K-dramas because they're sure it's not their cup of tea.

We used to feel the same way, but these five K-dramas proved us wrong and showed us that the genre has a quality that no other show has. So we really recommend that you pay attention to them.

1. The World of the Married

If you want to be a part of the dark, twisted drama of how ungrateful married life can be, this show is for you. The series premiered in 2020 and has since become one of the highest rated K-dramas in the country. The story revolves around a married couple whose lives seem perfect at first glance.

However, everything changes for the worse when the wife, brilliantly portrayed by Kim Hee-ae, finds out that her husband is cheating on her. After realizing this, she does everything she can to bring him down.

2. Sky Castle

This drama focuses on the lives of students from the most prestigious universities in South Korea. The creators of the show did their best to show how the elite in the country live and how these upper class parents will do almost anything to get their kids into such perfect schools. The show focuses on exploring all the methods these people use to get what they want, but also does a great job of portraying the terrible consequences of their actions.

3. Vincenzo

Vincenzo is a must watch for those who consider themselves crime thriller fans. The drama stars one of the most popular Korean actors, Song Joong-ki. Vincenzo is his name, and no, we are not kidding: the thing is that he is half Italian and is in fact a mobster who came back to South Korea for revenge. His main goal is to take down the giant company that has been proven to be evil.

4. Boys Over Flowers

Your perfect, albeit not-so-typical romance, Boys Over Flowers brings one of the best love triangles in K-drama history to the small screen. The 2009 hit stars Koo Hye-sun as Geum Jan-di, a not-so-rich girl who makes her way into a prestigious high school. There she falls in love with the best friend of a popular boy who is actually in love with her… If "it's complicated" social media status could be a TV series, it would be this one.

5. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

This K-drama is a remake of the popular rom-com Mr. Handy Mr. Hong. The series follows a dentist who is so tired of city life that she decides to move to the idyllic seaside village of Gongjin. She starts a new life there and opens her own practice. Later, she finds a cheerful handyman who helps her with every little thing and makes her realize that she is actually happy with her life.

It's a must see for those who feel lost right now and want to make sure that there can be something good in life if you're not afraid to make a change.
