Justified Returns 8 Years Later with the Horniest Most Random Yellowstone Reference
It's been all too long, but Justified is back in the form of a mini-series, and it starts off strong by making the thirstiest comments about Yellowstone's Kevin Costner.
Once upon a time, Justified was FX's hit show: it had a cool guy in a cowboy's hat ridding the state of Kentucky of criminals and looking dashing with his neo-Western style. After six successful seasons, the show came to an end and was quickly followed by Taylor Sheridan 's Yellowstone, another hit neo-Western show we love.
But now, eight whole years later, Justified makes a sudden comeback as the mini-series Justified: City Primeval. The very first episode of the new show decided to appease the neo-Western show public in a very funny way: by making the most unexpected Yellowstone reference in the thirstiest way possible.
The premiere episode starts with the protagonist of the original Justified, U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, sitting in a restaurant with his daughter Willa and having a nice family dinner. Across the room from them are two new characters: Carolyn, the defense attorney, and her friend Diane, seemingly minding their own business.
Carolyn notices Raylan and becomes interested in the man, which we, the audience, learn in mere seconds as Carolyn tells her friend the horniest line possible.
"There's a guy across the room staring at you. You ever seen Yellowstone? I would f*ck the sh*t out of Kevin Costner, " Carolyn says with a chuckle.
This line single-handedly caused some of us to lose our bearings and burst out laughing. The most sudden Yellowstone reference joking about a tough guy in a cowboy hat? Yes, please. While some might argue that joking about Kevin Costner is not the best way to quip at Yellowstone considering the recent drama, we're down for it.
This line could also have a deeper behind-the-scenes meaning, too: potentially, after the finale of the original Justified, the creators of the series have been keeping a close eye on Sheridan's shows and learned from them. Considering how popular Justified used to be on its own, adding some of Yellowstone's tricks would boost it even more.
