Can you imagine anyone other than Jim Parsons as the iconic genius? Apparently, the creators couldn't either.

Before they found Jim, however, a plethora of actors had auditioned for the role. You will never guess who was among them.

Kevin Sussman, who ended up playing Stuart Bloom on The Big Bang Theory, actually had a good chance of becoming our Sheldon.

Well, Stuart is another (good) weirdo, and a lot of that comes from how Kevin portrays him, so it would definitely be interesting to see what he would do with Sheldon.

Would he be an even more annoying know-it-all? Would he be more down-to-earth? Unclear!

The actor made such an impression on the TBBT bosses that they later called him back to audition for the role of Barry Kripke, but Sussman was unavailable at the time.

Finally, season 2 came along, and the perfect part for Kevin was found: Stuart Bloom, the comic book store guy.

It's funny how well it fit him, given that Sussman used to work in a comic book store (via TV Store Online), so he knew his way around the fictional store, and the rest is history.

Speaking of Kripke, John Ross Bowie didn't get cast on the first try either. According to Express.co.uk, the actor had two auditions for one of the lead roles before he landed the role of the petty villain of the show.

Yes, you've guessed it, he could have starred as Leonard Hofstadter!

A while back, Bowie revealed that there had to be "an alternate cosmology" where he was Leonard, and Kevin was Sheldon.

Can you even imagine how different the show would have been? The dynamic between the two would have blown us away!

Anyway, we are happy with how things have turned out. Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons have brought their characters to life and made the show compelling, and John Ross Bowie and Kevin Sussman have introduced important additions to the group dynamic with theirs.

We wouldn't have it any other way!
