Jessica Knight Has Another Potential Replacement, and It’s Not an OG Character
Given all the variety of options, Knight’s position won’t be vacant for long.
Jessica Knight’s future in NCIS after the season 21 ending is now the biggest mystery for the show’s fans as the latest installment proved that the character was down for a big job opportunity outside of the MCRT.
Despite making it clear that Jessica will no longer stay with her team once her new job duties take her across the country, her departure hasn’t yet been confirmed, as well as Jessica’s possible return as a guest star in some future episodes.
However obscure it all is for Jessica Knight’s further storyline, there seems to be enough challenges for her position at the MCRT. The long list of candidates who may take over Knight’s duties doesn’t really stop at the original show’s characters, but also considers some of those who have been out of sight for quite some time now.
Though NCIS initially does have some options to offer for Jessica Knight’s position as a Special Agent at the MCRT, the franchise’s other shows, even those that eventually got canceled, also have their own professionals to send to the main department.
The most viral theory about Knight’s possible replacement is connected directly to NCIS: Hawai’i and its female lead Jane Tennant, but NCIS’ other spinoff has someone else to present as another perfect fit.
Should Jessica Knight indeed leave for good, her position can be easily taken over by NCIS: Los Angeles’ Special Agent Kensi Blye, portrayed by Daniela Ruah. Although the actress was mostly involved in the canceled NCIS spinoff before it came to its end back in 2023, Ruah still made several appearances in the original show, proving that her character was no stranger to the MCRT.
Apart from that, Ruah has significantly improved her directing skills while working on NCIS: Los Angeles as she also helmed some episodes in NCIS’ numerous shows, including the flagship one, NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawai’i.
Her comeback as Kensi will thus not only allow her character to get a major career boost, but will also give Ruah herself another opportunity to direct more episodes for NCIS’ future seasons.
