Jeremy Allen White Breaks Down The Bear S2 Heartbreaking Finale
Warning: you may want to break down yourself.
If there is one trend that is very noticeable in the type of comedies coming out lately, it is that they all seem to be tackling mental health issues in an unexpectedly serious way. The contrast between the humorous setting and the deep, dark characters may be the key to success for the recently completed Ted Lasso as well as FX's The Bear.
Although the show has never been critically panned, the first season of The Bear didn't do half as well as the second. In addition to being a genuinely great show, The Bear has done what other shows have failed to do for years: start a conversation about second chances in the industry.
No matter what the future holds for The Bear, fans are happy to see the discussion about early show cancellations spreading across the Internet.
For now, many people are still trying to get over the shock of the Season 2 finale and Carmy's major freezer meltdown. Jeremy Allen White, who portrays Carmy on the show, explained what led his character to that truly heartbreaking moment:
“When he gets locked in the freezer, it’s his show and it’s a complete loss of control. Control is so important to Carmy and to lose control just in one fell swoop of that door closing is just agonizing — and then not being able to be there,” the actor said.
Jeremy Allen White also pointed out the importance of Carmy's mother in the conflict, saying that he and Richie probably had an understanding that she was off limits. However, the fact that this was not the case was definitely another trigger for Carmy to add to all the pressures he was already experiencing.
If you want to see how the events of the series led to Allen White's Carmy completely losing it, you can already stream the entire second season of The Bear on Hulu.
