Jensen Ackles Played Cupid for His Supernatural Co-Star (No, Not Jared Padalecki)
How a night of tequila shots led to a love story.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jensen Ackles share one of the best friendships in Hollywood. The two amazing actors were co-stars in the popular TV series Supernatural where they portrayed a popular father-son duo.
Their friendship continued even after Morgan’s departure from the show and the series’ eventual conclusion. Not only is Ackles a good friend to Morgan, he is also the one who introduced Jeffrey to the love of his love, actress Hilarie Burton.
Hilarie Burton and Danneel Ackles, Jensen Ackles’ wife (known before as Danneel Harris), became friends while working together on the TV show One Tree Hill. Around the same time, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jensen Ackles were building a friendship of their own on the set of Supernatural.
Even after leaving their respective shows, these friendships continued to flourish. Little did Jeffrey and Hilarie know, Jensen and Danneel saw a perfect opportunity for a new love story to begin.
In 2009, Jensen and Danneel invited Jeffrey and Hilarie to a bar, and as the night progressed, they all ended up at Morgan’s house, sharing shots of tequila, as the actor himself revealed in an interview with HuffPost (via Popsugar).
Morgan and Burton hit it off right away, so much so that Hilarie decided to pass up on a one-way ticket to France to see where this budding romance might lead. During their conversation with PeopleTV in 2020, the two had different versions of how the night went down and who took more initiative, but one thing was clear — a spark was ignited.
Jeffrey and Hilarie kept their relationship under wraps, and it wasn’t until they were getting ready to welcome their first child, August, in 2010 that the world got a glimpse of their love. The couple welcomed their daughter, George, in 2018. After a decade together, they decided to get married in 2019.
The wedding was nothing short of supernatural, with Jensen Ackles and Norman Reedus, Morgan’s Walking Dead co-star, present at the ceremony.
During the wedding, Jensen Ackles, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Jared Padalecki, who all starred in Supernatural, got matching tattoos to commemorate the special occasion and their friendship (via Page Six).
