Missed the good old comedies? Jennifer Lawrence has some.

Friday night, you pick a movie for the evening, just to relax and laugh. You have seen all the good stuff, you want something new. You check out movies on various streamings – comic, comic, animation, comic, sequel, prequel, remake, comic.

Can you remember at least one really funny Hollywood comedy lately? Only The Hangover or We're the Millers come to mind, but they're not that recent – these movies were released more than 10 years ago.

A new comedy with Jennifer Lawrence, No Hard Feelings, gives the viewers a good old comedy (not a comedy action movie, not a comedy superhero movie, etc.) that everyone missed so much.

And what is one of the secret ingredients of the super-hit comedies of the '90s and early 2000s? Raw, even obscene humor. And according to Lawrence, that's exactly what the new movie has. That humor can be offensive, but that's not a bad thing:

“I think it's time for just a good old-fashioned laugh, and it really is hard to make a comedy where you're not offending people. Everybody in some sense will be offended by this film — you're welcome.”

However, No Hard Feelings will not be a mere copy of the cult comedies that came out 20-30 years ago. The nature of humor and the perception of it has changed over time, and the new movie takes that into account:

“Something we learned from the old-time comedies is mean comedy is not really funny. […] Making somebody feel bad about themselves — other than me making fun of me. But the way that we did it is fine, we figured it out.”

According to the plot, Uber driver Maddie finds herself in a difficult situation in life – because of high debts, her car is taken away and her house is about to be taken away, too.

However, Maddie finds a rather unusual job, thanks to which she can earn money quickly. She must help introverted 19-year-old Percy loosen up before he goes off to college.

No Hard Feelings hits theaters June 23.
